Rotary Park At Kirrawee
The maintenance of Kirrawee Rotary Park is Sutherland Rotary Club’s most important environmental project.
It was taken on when the Rotary Club of Sutherland Civic ceased to operate in 2004. The land was made available by Sutherland Shire Council.
There is only 0.5% of original Turpentine-Ironbark Forests left standing in New South Wales, and this park is part of the remaining stands in Sydney.
Native grasses are also a feature of this site.
The Turpentine-Ironbark Forest is listed as a critically endangered ecological community under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
Our Club is responsible for it’s upkeep, with members and friends volunteering to keep native flora intact.
